1. Scope

This International Standard specifies requirements for the base, use, maintain and improve an environmental management system and its coordination with other management systems.

NOTE: Although the system is not designed to manage the issues of safety, they can be included within its scope, if the organization is planning to introduce a comprehensive system of environmental management and occupational safety.

Despite the fact that the rules of this International Standard models meet the environmental management system standard ISO 14001, they are not designed to interpret the requirements of ISO 14001.
